CJ and Helen Cox won the Luffenham Heath Ladies Invitation Day today in scorching weather on a very fast course with tricky difficult to read greens. They took it on countback from the 2nd and 3rd placed teams with 40pts. It was a great achievement with Helen receiving only 9 shots. Liz James also a former BPGC member and Sue Churchill came 5th with 37pts.
So far this season the Burghley Bees had been defeated at Stoke Rochford away, and scored an emphatic 4-0 win at home against Blankney A team.
The team is welcoming three new team members already this year, with Joanne Cheshire continuing her unbeaten record and Mary Gates and Janet Farrington playing in the next two matches between now and the end of June.Great performance by Burghley ladies at Thorpe Wood Pro Am yesterday. Gail Hunt, Helen Haynes and Sue Churchill came 3rd with their allocated Pro Keely Chierocato, with 85pts. The winning score was 89pts. Suffice to say that Helen on her ex home course of 15 yrs played a blinder and showed everyone how to do it with 6 pars. The other Burghley team of Michelle Powell, Gill Bedford and Janet Farrington came 6th on countback with 82pts. It was freezing weather with unexpected fast greens after they had been cut twice since Sunday's practice round!! There was a great prize fund and big sponsorship from Atkins Gregory. Suzanne and her Nene Park team came 4th.
